Android 9 upgrade comes out for OnePlus 5 and 5T

OnePlus has started to release OxygenOS 9.0.0 for the OnePlus 5 and the 5T. The operating system of the Chinese manufacturer is based on Android 9.0 Pie and is distributed via an ota-update.

OnePlus reports that the upgrade is first sent to a select number of users and that in the course of the next few days a large group of OnePlus 5 and 5T owners will receive the new operating system. Previously, OnePlus already equipped the 6 and 6T with Android 9. The OnePlus 3 and 3T also get the upgrade, but when is not yet known.

In October, a OnePlus executive said the upgrade to Android 9 for the OnePlus 3, 3T, 5 and 5T was postponed , without mentioning concrete data. Earlier, the company had suggested that the OnePlus 5 devices would be upgraded to Android 9 for another year. With the release on Christmas that is still successful at the last minute.

Samsung also releases Android 9 during the Christmas season, for its Galaxy S9 and S9 +.
