Kolkata: Airtel Kenya, the second-largest carrier in the African country, has launched 4G services offering faster internet speeds to customers.
Airtel Kenya’s 4G services will initially be available in Nairobi and Mombasa, which will be followed by rollouts in other towns and cities.
The 4G launch comes with a double data offer to all customers having a 4G smartphone and compatible SIM card subscribing to the monthly bundle. In addition, any Airtel Kenya customer who upgrades his SIM to 4G will get a 2GB bonus free, the company said in a media statement Thursday.
“Airtel is committed to continuously innovate and improve the quality of its products and services for a delightful customer experience. We believe we have launched our 4G service at the most opportune time, given that many customers have access to more 4G-enabled handsets and devices,” Airtel Kenya CEO Prasanta Das Sarma said.
Airtel Kenya customers can do a self-upgrade of their SIM to 4G by dialing *100# and selecting the upgrade menu. Customers can get a 4G SIM free of charge from any Airtel shop.
