NEW DELHI: In an attempt to further drive the data consumption while acquiring new customers, Mukesh Ambani-driven Reliance Jio has come up with a Rs 49 plan for JioPhone users which will allow customers to make free voice calls and access unlimited data up to 1 GB for 28 days.
The move comes a day after 4G VoLTE enabled JioPhone became the No 1 feature phone brand in the quarter to December by shipments, overthrowing market leader Samsung in the segment for the first time, according to Counterpoint Research.
The company is also introducing affordable data add-ons at Rs 11, 21, 51 and 101. Also, Jio in a statement said that its JioPhone will be available at retailers as well as for online ordering through MyJio App or Jio.com. The company had earlier made available its JioPhone via pre-booking through its website which it had to suspend due to overbooking of the device.
Jio which earlier faced supply issues of battery and chipsets that had constrained shipments initially, seems to have resolved such issues thereby making the device available at the nearest retailers and through online ordering.
