NEW DELHI: Telecom stocks Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 4.90 per cent), Bharti Infratel (up 2.96 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 1.65 per cent), Tata Communications (up 1.16 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 0.34 per cent) and Himachal Futuristic Communications (up 0.19 per cent) were trading up in afternoon trade on Thursday.
The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.98 per cent up at 1,549 around 01:50 pm (IST).
Shares of Vindhya Telelinks (down 1.88 per cent) and Sterlite Technologies (down 0.40 per cent) were trading down around that time.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was 265 points up at 33,026, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 74 points up at 10,192.
Infosys, State Bank of India, Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata motors, NTPC and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.
Adani Ports, Coal India, Bajaj Auto and Cipla were losing in trade.
