NEW DELHI: Telecom stocks Aksh Optifibre (up 9.32 per cent), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 4.94 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (up 4 per cent), GTL (up 3.18 per cent) and Himachal Futuristic Communications (up 3.01 per cent) were trading up in afternoon trade on Friday.
The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.63 per cent up at 1,718 around 01:05 pm (IST).
Shares of Tejas Networks (up 1.88 per cent), Tata Communications (up 1.70 per cent), Idea Cellular (up 1.60 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 1.28 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (up 1.07 per cent) were also in the green around that time.
However, Reliance Communications (down 2.59 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (down 2.43 per cent) and Bharti Infratel (down 0.79 per cent) were trading in the red.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 20 points up at 10,444, while the BSE Sensex was 61 points up at 33,634.
Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 25 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.
Shares of Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, HDFC, Larsen & Toubro, Cipla, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Tata Motors and Tata Steel were the top gainers in the Sensex index.
However, Sun Pharma, Coal India, Lupin, Hero MotoCorp, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Power Grid Corporation were among the top losers among the Sensex stocks.
On the BSE, 1,452 stocks were advancing whereas 1,130 stocks were lagging and 117 stocks were appearing unchanged.
