In a bid to get iPhone users to stay on with Amazon, the e-commerce major is working with Reliance Jio to offer 70% value of their existing iPhones when they upgrade to a new model next year.
“We have seen the demand for iPhone which is why we have come up with the first of its kind offer where we are guaranteeing 70% value for your iPhone at the time of upgrade. This is also across online and offline channels where you can opt for iPhone8 and beyond on Amazon or through Reliance Digital stores,” said Manish Tiwary, VP, Amazon India. He said 50% of smartphone buyers tend to exchange their old phones while upgrading to a new one on Amazon. This has been a trend with most online commerce companies.
Jio’s partnership with Amazon comes at a time when the telecom operator is also the title sponsor of Amazon’s arch rival Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale. Both Amazon and Flipkart, as part of their annual sale event, are gearing up to sell new iPhones starting midnight.
Tiwary said the partnership is a strategic move to make Amazon the go to platform for Indian buyers who are upgrading to new iPhones.
